Shikshan Prasarak Mandal is striving for educational, economical and social upliftment of community. With the vision of the institute ‘Tewo Sada Dnyanmaya Pradeep’ this seminar will definitely enlighten the society for living environment friendly life, thereby promoting the sustainable development. Sahakar Maharshi Shankarrao Mohite-Patil has decided to develop educational facilities for the rural area of Maharashtra to improve economical condition of rural area. He established the Shishan Prasarak Mandal on 23rd June 1948. At first the Mandal started “Vijay Vastigruh (Hostel)” at Akluj and a high School from 1st March 1949. At present, Shikshan Prasarak Mandal runs 59 different schools and colleges in Maharashtra. It includes pre-primary, primary, secondary and higher secondary schools and colleges.
There are senior colleges for U.G. and P.G. which specialise in Arts, Commerce, Science, Home Science, Agriculture, Pharmacy, D.Ed. and B.Ed. Shikshan Prasarak Mandal was felicitated by State Government of Maharashtra as “ Adarsh Shikshan Sanstha” Puraskar, in year 2001. S.P. Mandal organised a residential camp of three days for 20,000 students named as ‘Anand Yatra’ as a celebration of Golden Jubilee year in 1999. This event was recorded in Limca Book of Records. S.P. Mandal is also a Guinness World Record holder for participation of 6200 students in traditional Maharashtrian folk named Lezim at a time.
Shikashan Prasarak Mandal established the Ratnai Mahila Sankul only for women and basic motto behind it was to help the rural girls to take education in a safe and secure environment right from school to college level and also to provide the quality education which will encourage the girls to lead a successful life. Ratnai Mahila Sankul comprises Jijamata Kanya Prashala ( Secondary and higher secondary), Home Science college, Soundarya Shastra Vidyalaya, Mahila Vasatigruh and Women’s College of Education.
Our college, Smt. Ratnaprabhadevi Mohite Patil College of Home Science for Women, Akluj was established on 28th June, 2000 to empower and educate the rural girl students in this area. The college is permanantly affiliated to S.N.D.T. Women’s University, Mumbai and also recognised by U.G.C. under 2(f) and 12 B. The college is accrediated by NAAC at B grade. The college is highly focused on developing women’s entrepreneurship and quality-based, action-oriented and skill-enhancing education for women.
The curricula of Home Science encourage the students to lead their life and home in a very scientific way. It includes five major subjects viz. Food Science & Nutrition, Human Development, Extension Education, Family Resource Management and Textile Science. It artfully combines intellectual growth with the passion, sensitivity, creativity in an interactive environment. The college runs B.Sc. Home Science degree course. This course is taught in Marathi and English languages. We have well equipped laboratories, playground, gymkhana, spaceous infrasrtucture, well established library with ample of books, journals, reference books, magazines, electronic study material, internet and on-line learning facilities and study room. Our experienced and highly qualified and enthusiastic faculty members are always keen to help and guide the students to achieve the highest academic standard excellence in the sports, NCC, Cultural and NSS. This obviously ensures smooth and efficient learning environment.
